SKTCHD BOOK 2020
The second print annual of SKTCHD, David Harper's subscription comic book site, is here. It collects a mix of five pieces from the year that was for the site, showcasing a highlight reel of what the site's content is like (including the footnotes!). Pieces include:
- “This was a Wake-up Call”: A feature looking at how 2020 shifted comic creator's approaches to what they do
- Defining an Era: For the one time ever in print, Off Panel's podcast interview with writer Brian Michael Bendis about his career and craft.
- The Rise of Webtoon: An expansive longform highlighting what makes Webtoon, the mobile comics giant, maybe the most important comic publisher today.
- "Work Smart, Not Hard": Artist Nic Klein breaks down his art + work on Thor with Donny Cates, with inked versions of Klein's work included within.
- The Hall of Fame of Superhero Comics Being Weird at Sports: Inaugurating a Hall of Fame class of the weirdest + best marriages of superheroes + sports to ever do it.
The book is 136 pages long, A5 sized, printed on 100 lb satin paper with a 130 lb matte laminated cover, perfect bound, features a foreword from cartoonist Declan Shalvey, and comes with original art from Klein and artist Tadd Galusha, whose work introduces each section.
Bonus: each order gets a SKTCHD/Off Panel Stilt-Man trading card, styled like the old Marvel Universe Series 2 trading cards and designed + colored by Rico Renzi with line art by John Allison. These will not be sold separately.
